French 4/5: French humourists: the classics and the new generation
What is the course about?
in this 3-week course, we will study all sorts of French comedians, from the old guard of the 80s and 90s to the new 21st century generation. We will discover what has made French people laugh over the years, why some topics are chosen and to what purpose, and how the humoristic landscape has evolved in the past 40 years, acting as a mirror to the evolution of French society.
This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone can be used if you don't have a computer but please note the experience may be less optimal.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.What will we cover?
We will start with a general presentation of what French humour looks like, what it is generally thought of in France and abroad and we will then study a selection of comedian that span three different generations.
- The first, who thrived in the 80s and 90s (Pierre Desproges, Elie Kakou, Coluche, Guy Bedos, Muriel Robin...)
